Free music for
whatever you're making.

I'm an independent musician. I write, play, record and produce every track here at home — then give it away. Use it in your videos, games, films, streams or anything else you're building. No fee, no sign-up, no strings.

    About

    Behind Atavist

I'm an independent musician, guitarist and keyboard player, and I make music for the simple pleasure of making it.

I write, play, record and produce everything myself, at home — chilled-out ambient pieces one week, riffs and melodies the next, and whatever else happens to catch my ear after that. There's no plan to it, which is rather the point.

I put it all out for free so other people can use it: games, videos, films, streams, student projects, podcasts. If something I've made adds a bit of atmosphere, emotion or energy to your work, that's exactly what it's for. Take it and go.

The terms, such as they are

    Free to use

Every track here is mine — written, played, recorded and produced start to finish, with nothing sampled from anyone else. That means I can hand it straight to you, and nobody else has to be asked.

    Yes, you can

Videos, games, films, streams, podcasts, student work, client work, commercial projects. Download it, cut it, loop it, layer it, put it under whatever you like. No fee and no permission needed.

    A credit is welcome

Not required — but if you'd like to, Music by Atavist, atavistmusic.co.uk does the job nicely, and it helps other people find their way here.

    Two things to avoid

Please don't sell the tracks on their own or add them to a stock-music library as your own, and don't register them with a content-ID system — that ends up blocking everyone else who's using them. Whatever you build with them is entirely yours.
